California DOJ serves investigative subpoena on OpenAI

California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced that his office served OpenAI an investigative subpoena on September 30 as part of an ongoing inquiry into cybersecurity incidents and risks involving the company and its AI models. The office advances a potential developer-responsibility and liability position but has not established liability or a new legal doctrine.
