Aleph Alpha Kolibri open-weight model

Aleph Alpha released Kolibri on October 3 as a publicly downloadable German-English Mixture-of-Experts model under Apache 2.0. The primary release specifies 78.1B total parameters, 3.46B active parameters per token, controllable reasoning modes, tool calling and support for contexts up to 1,048,576 tokens with 262,144 recommended for efficient operation. The weights are publicly available through Hugging Face. This is concrete evidence of European open-weight model capability and sovereign/on-prem deployment options, not merely an announced future model.
