FERC accepts PJM large-load registry while rejecting emergency curtailment tariff proposals
On October 9, 2026, FERC Order 197 FERC ¶61,019, docket ER26-3515-000, accepted PJM's 50-MW large-load definition and registration requirements but rejected the proposed Interim Resource Adequacy Service curtailment and bring-your-own-new-capacity tariff provisions. This is a formal partial approval/rejection of regulatory proposals, not authority to broadly shut down data centers, proof that existing electricity constraints are resolved, or first onset of compute-energy coupling. Subsequent compliance filing and implementation details remain to be established.
